We are sorry to write this article so late but we didn’t want to write the same article as Thibaut.
We arrived at the same time as almost all ESAIP students on the 30th of january.
Our flat is divided in 8 rooms. There is the kitchen, the living room, 3 bedrooms, the bathroom, the WC and the storeroom. And we have the pleasure to have a balcony ! Check the pictures to see our flat :)
We share our accomodation with a bulgarian student who is in Aalborg since september and he will stay here for 3 years. His name is Velizar and he is attempting for a Bachelor Degree in Export & Technology Management. It’s pretty nice to have a foreign student with us, it allows us to oftenly speak and improve our english. Thanks to our roomate, living here is easier. The first week, he told us all things we must know about Aalborg and Denmark: where to buy food (cheaper markets), the empty bottles system, how to live and interact with Danes, places to go, things to do or not to do in the street.
The day after the Introducing Day, we went to our university, named “Sofiendalsvej”. This university was renovated this year, so all is new !

After our first morning, we decided to do some shopping at Ikea and after reach the downtown and hang around to visit the city. We take the bus which is pretty expensive, around 2.7€ by ticket, so we have bought an one month subscription (370dkk about 50€) which is better for us because we need to take the bus when we want to move to the downtown. We have seen an outdoor ice arena and a statue of a bull.
We passed by the famous street “Jomfru Ane Gade” and we have seen a lot of shops.
Maybe they have something like our french “soldes”, it could be good to check it.
The day after we’ve done a little party for the Thibaut’s birthday at UC House. We have met a lot of people. It was cool to speak with a lot of people which come from differents countries. We’ve learned a lot about differents cultures. This is one of the main idea about Erasmus : “Meet people and learn from the difference.”
During our second week, we had to go to the library to pick up some books which were booked for us. That allows us to discover the library in Porthusgade. We also visit the post office during our journey, something that jump out is that instead of waiting in queue, you had a ticket with a number. And when your number is called, it’s your turn. But they have this system everywhere ! At the post office, the bus office or even at the bakery.
Later during the week, we’ve gone to a party with some danes people who explain us some danish customs and thing to do or to not do.
Unfortunately, it is the end of this article. Soon there will be another one about the next two weeks and maybe about danish food or customs.
Have a good week
See you soon
Benoît & Erwan
